Dr. Piotr Dzwonkowski, CEO of LINKIES. Management Consulting Polska presented on the topic of “Failures in Risk Management” during the LRM4banking SECURITY CONFERENCE, held on October 7th, 2010 in Warsaw, Poland.

The presentation was well received by the audience at the conference and a detailed summary is available on the POLRISK organization website. POLRISK is a member of the Federation of European Risk Management Associations (FERMA).

The four main conclusions from the presentation were:

1. Maintain an equilibrium between quantitative and qualitative analyses of risk
2. Distinguish between risk-based and control-based approaches
3. Beware of risks with a small probability of occurring, but which have potentially large negative consequences
4. Incorporate the Risk Management Culture model (including IT General Controls) as a necessary routine to prepare for unexpected events
